    “SHRMTC” is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.  We are also recognized by HRCI as an Approved Provider.

    SHRMTC has met the criteria to become a 2017 SHRM Learning System Champion!

    How can a Chapter become a SHRM Learning System Champion?

    Chapters can either partner with a college/university to promote an instructor-led course that uses the SHRM Learning System for SHRM-CPSM/SHRM-SCPSM and/or host and administer a facilitator-led SHRM Learning System study group. Chapters must complete the items below prior to the commencement of the course and/or study group:

    •       Post course or study group notification on the chapter's website

    • Place announcement in chapter newsletter, and/or announce the course or study group at a chapter event

    •       Place the SHRM Learning System tile ad on the chapter's home page

    •       Send e-mail blast to members to promote the course or study group

    We are organizing a fall study group for Certification!  Please contact me at krk7@cornell.edu to get added to the list.  The plan is to begin meeting in late August, with testing beginning in December.  See below for details about the certification and the study groups:

     

    The New SHRM-CP (Certified Professional) & SHRM-SCP (Senior Certified Professional)Certification:

    The new SHRM Competency Model defines success for HR professionals today.

    • It offers relevant career development guidance to HR professionals by clearly defining what successful performance looks like and showing the path for maximizing a professional's performance at his or her current job level.
    • It provides a way for HR professionals to understand how successful job behavior differs across career levels and helps practitioners identify and evaluate career development.
    • It makes it easy for HR professionals to grasp what effective behavior and performance looks like.
    • The SHRM Certification will unify and advance the profession by providing a relevant global exam with integrity that tests competence as well as knowledge.

    STUDY GROUP

    For those who have not obtained their SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP we have regular study groups based on interest usually held one night a week for 10 weeks in the spring and fall.  More information about the study groups is available in our monthly newsletter or you can contact the certification chair. 

    These study groups will also help you get ready for HRCI certification if that is of interest.  

    SHRMTC’s Commitment to Our Members:

    We understand that many of our members take pride in the accomplishments they’ve earned as a certified professional through HRCI.  SHRMTC will continue to offer monthly programming and submit for approval through HRCI so you can continue to submit towards recertification for your existing PHR, SPHR, GPHR, etc. credentials.  We have also been authorized as a SHRM Certified Provider, which means SHRMTC is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.  SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP credential holders qualify for recertification credits by participating in professional development activities that relate to the SHRM BoCK (Body of Competency & Knowledge).

    During monthly SHRMTC programming we will offer two certificates to meeting attendees: one towards HRCI recertification and one toward SHRM Recertification.
